Introducing Automatic Transaction Renaming

Today I’m excited to introduce automatic transaction renaming.

When you upload your transactions to Iron Money, you often have to edit all of the transaction names so that they make sense and look nice. For example, you might change a raw transaction name from MC-AMC MARINA PAC04002QPS LONG B to AMC Marina Pacifica.

Manually doing this for all of your uploads is okay, but there’s a better way: Iron Money learns what changes you make so it can automatically make the right changes in the future. Instead of having to correct every single raw transaction name, Iron Money can take a good guess as to what it thinks the transaction should be named.

Unlike some personal finance web apps, Iron Money doesn’t just look for direct matches. Some banks include the date and time in the transaction names, which means that tools that only look for direct matches won’t ever be able to help you. Iron Money makes its best guess based on direct matches and based on the words in the raw transaction name; the result is a more matches with a higher confidence.

To get started using Iron Money’s automatic transaction renaming, sign up for a free account, or sign in if you already have an account and activate automatic transaction renaming in your settings.
