Introducing File Storage

Today I’m very excited to introduce file storage for Iron Money! You can now attach files to accounts, categories, transactions, and uploads.

File storage is really handy for keeping track of bills, checks, receipts, and any other documents related to your personal finances. There are many ways in which this is useful:

  • When you make a purchase, you might want to save a photo of the receipt with the transaction, or attach a PDF of the receipt if you made the purchase online. This is really handy for returning items and tax purposes.
  • You can attach scanned checks to their respective transactions.
  • Bank statements can be attached to your accounts.
  • You might want to attach expense reports to your categories.
  • Account uploads automatically store the uploaded file so you don’t have to keep a copy on your computer.

Your files are encrypted and stored in multiple locations, so they are much more safe than they are on your own computer. Additionally, since they are stored with IronMoney.com, you can easily access them from wherever you have an Internet connection.

Everyone has 20 MB of free storage, which is great for storing account uploads and attaching a couple of files to your accounts, categories, and/or transactions. You can easily upgrade to 1 GB of storage for $9.99/year (about 1000 files for less than a dollar a month) when you need more storage space.

You can start adding files right now! Both Iron Money for iOS and Iron Money for Mac will be updated in the coming months to support file storage. Join the tens of thousands of others that have signed up for Iron Money and let me know if you have any feedback!
