Iron Money for Mac 1.1.0

July 20, 2011

Iron Money for Mac 1.1.0 is now available in the Mac App Store! Amongst many new features and bug fixes, this update introduces support for Mac OS X Lion and four beautiful graphs: a net-worth graph, an income vs. spending graph, line graphs for each account’s balance over time, and bar charts for the spending in each category.

The net-worth graph appears when you click on “Accounts” in the source list on the left. It shows your net worth by taking the sum of all of your account balances and showing how they’ve changed over time. Additionally, each account has a line graph that shows how its balance changed over time. You can hover anywhere over the line graph to see the exact balance at any given point in time.

The “Categories” view has a graph that compares your income and spending over time by showing your income and spending for each month. Additionally, each category has a bar chart that show the income or spending in the category by month. If the category has subcategories, it’ll show how much was spent in each subcategory. You can hover over any bar to get the exact amount it represents, and you can hover over the month label to get the sum of the bars (for subcategories) or the difference between the income and spending (for the income and spending chart).

This update also brings full support for Mac OS X Lion. First and foremost, Iron Money can be made full-screen to take advantage of all of your screen real estate. Additionally, Iron Money supports Resume, which allows it to reopen right where you left off. Furthermore, Iron Money’s security is increased with support for Application Sandboxing.

Additionally, there are lots of other new features, including:

  • Transaction amounts are now colored in transaction tables.
  • A running uncleared balance now appears while looking at a single account’s transactions.
  • The amount text field will have a minus sign in it if the selected category is a spending category.
  • Multiple transactions can be deleted together.
  • Categories can have their parent changed.
  • A category’s color can be edited.
  • Improved syncing.
  • Bug fixes.

Introducing Iron Money for Mac

February 21, 2011

Today I’m ecstatic to introduce Iron Money for Mac, which is now available on the Mac App Store on any Mac running Mac OS X v10.6.6 or higher.

Iron Money for Mac helps you keep track of your personal finances by making your accounts, categories, and transactions available on your Mac, with or without an Internet connection. You can add new transactions, update your accounts, or even add new categories and your data will be synced with IronMoney.com. Likewise, changes made through IronMoney.com or Iron Money for iOS will be synced to the Mac app. This allows you to keep track of your transactions while on the go and still be able to use Iron Money through a native Mac app when you’re at your Mac.

Below are a few screenshots of the app in action. See it on your own Mac by downloading it from the Mac App Store today!
